An established hospital in California is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with Cath Lab expertise to support their dynamic cardiovascular team on a contract basis. This position requires excellent technical proficiency, clinical judgment, and adaptability within a patient-focused environment.
Schedule/Hours:
- Shifts available as 8-hour or 12-hour days, starting at 7 a.m.
- High demand for Monday and Friday coverage
- One weeknight of call per week (self-sign up; begins after department closes)
- Weekend call approximately one full weekend every five weeks (manager rotation)
- Holiday call coordinated by self-sign up and rotation
- Call response time: 30 minutes
Key Qualifications:
- Active CA Registered Nurse license
- At least 2 years of recent cath lab nursing experience
- Prior experience assisting with PCI required
- Experience scrubbing cases; RNs must be able to scrub
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Pacemaker experience preferred
- Familiar with procedural sedation preferred
- Proficiency with Cerner & Merge documentation/charting systems
Primary Responsibilities:
- Scrub for cardiovascular procedures involving structural, PCI, EVARs, peripheral angiography, pacemakers, stents, axillaries, and coronaries
- Maintain and uphold a sterile procedure environment
- Perform room turnover, patient transport, and detailed documentation
- Potential to float to IR or ambulatory care units as needed
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team monitored by available resource and charge nurses during regular hours
- Undergo a comprehensive orientation tailored to your background, typically 36-40 hours
