Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) Registered Nurse in Charlotte, NC

An opportunity exists for a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care to provide expert care in a dynamic critical care setting. This contract role is based in the Charlotte, NC area and focuses on complex cardiovascular patient management within a high-acuity, 14-bed unit equipped with private rooms and specialized negative pressure environments.

Responsibilities include delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute cardiac conditions such as STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and post-thoracic surgery management including CABG and valve procedures. Nurses will manage advanced invasive devices such as IABP and Impella, administer vasoactive medications, and care for patients supported by ventilators, CRRT, and multiple surgical drains and lines.

Key duties:

• Provide critical care nursing maintaining a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Administer and monitor life-sustaining treatments and devices including arterial lines, PA catheters, and transvenous pacemakers.
• Collaborate with intensivists and interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.
• Float within the regional network as needed, with travel time compensated.
• Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitoring systems.
• Participate in weekend rotations and holiday coverage aligned with contract terms.
• Adhere to departmental procedures and practices following a structured orientation.

Desired qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience.
• Current RN license with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex cardiovascular intensive care patients.
• Willingness to float within the designated regional facilities.
• Experience with invasive cardiac monitoring and advanced support devices preferred.
