A 14-bed Cardiac ICU unit is seeking an experienced RN specialized in cardiovascular intensive care to provide advanced nursing support to patients undergoing complex cardiac surgeries and device management. This role requires a solid background in managing high-acuity cardiac cases including ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, and Impella devices.

Location: Charlotte, NC

Schedule:

  • 12-hour day shifts from 0700-1900
  • Weekend rotation every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (nights)
  • No on-call or call back requirements
  • Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a CVICU or equivalent cardiac critical care unit
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Proficient with Epic EMR systems (experience mandatory)
  • Skilled in managing patients with cardiac assist devices such as ECMO, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, and Impella
  • Ability to present patient information during shift rounds at 1500 and 2030
  • Previous experience with adult critical care floating is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Collaborate actively with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, intensivists, and hospitalists available 24/7
  • Utilize advanced cardiac monitoring and device management tools such as Philips and Edwards monitors, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
  • Maintain rigorous documentation and communication within the Epic EMR
  • Participate in departmental orientations and ongoing education
