Step into an advanced cardiovascular intensive care environment, providing specialized nursing care for critically ill cardiac and surgical patients. This contract role offers the opportunity to deliver exceptional care as part of a dynamic Critical Care Resource Team, serving a renowned teaching hospital and stroke center of excellence.
Schedule & Hours:
- 12-hour night shifts: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Expectation to work 75% of holidays during the contract
- No on-call duties
- Floating within the regional network as needed
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license with at least 2 years of recent critical care experience (CVICU strongly preferred)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
- Competence in cardiac care, including management of vasoactive medications, surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, and CRRT
- Proficient with invasive lines: arterial lines, PA catheters, transvenous pacemakers
- Experience managing devices such as IABP and Impella (preferred)
- EMR experience with Epic; familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing helpful
- Flexibility to float within region and scope of practice
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care for critical cardiac and thoracic patients, including post-CT surgery (CABG, Valve, Dissection)
- Monitor, assess, and respond to acute changes in patient conditions
- Collaborate closely with a dedicated support team, including charge nurses and RT/intensivist coverage 24/7
- Participate in regular shift rotations, adhering to hospital protocols, documentation standards, and safety measures
