(RN) Registered Nurse - CVICU | New Hartford, New York

This opportunity is ideal for a skilled Registered Nurse with specialized experience in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care, particularly with fresh post-operative cardiac cases. Your advanced skills will support a high-acuity, 6-bed Cardiothoracic ICU, admitting patients with a range of diagnoses including recent cardiovascular surgery, cardiogenic shock, and abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).

Schedule/Hours:

• Contract assignment
• Adherence to a 75-mile radius rule is required

Qualifications:

• Active RN licensure with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Cardiothoracic ICU setting
• Direct experience caring for fresh heart post-op patients
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records system
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to respond swiftly in high-stakes situations

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver highest standard of nursing care to critically ill cardiothoracic patients, monitoring complex cases and providing post-operative support
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including surgeons, physicians, and ancillary staff
• Meticulously document assessments, treatments, and responses using EPIC
• Act as a patient advocate while educating patients and families about procedures, recovery, and ongoing care plans
• Respond rapidly to critical changes in patient status, demonstrating expert handling of emergencies
