Registered Nurse - CVICU (Cardiovascular ICU) in New Hartford, NY

Step into a specialized environment supporting critically ill patients within a high-acuity Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. This contract position leverages your expertise in advanced cardiovascular nursing, focusing on care for patients with complex cardiac diagnoses and recent surgical procedures. Your ability to respond rapidly in urgent situations, provide meticulous monitoring, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams will ensure excellence in patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license
• Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in a CVICU setting
• Demonstrated competency with fresh post-operative cardiothoracic patients
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system
• Successful completion of 75-mile radius requirement

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver skilled nursing care to patients recovering from major cardiovascular surgery, including, but not limited to, cases of cardiogenic shock and abdominal aortic aneurysm
• Manage a patient load within a 6-bed CTICU
• Monitor, assess, and react swiftly to rapid changes in patient status
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and ancillary staff to adjust care plans as needed
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips and other advanced therapies according to protocol
• Accurately document patient information and interventions using EPIC
• Educate patients and families on recovery processes and post-ICU expectations
