(RN) Registered Nurse - CVICU | New Hartford, New York

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care in a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) environment. This contract position requires advanced clinical skills and dedication to supporting post-operative and critically ill cardiothoracic patients. The successful candidate will have direct experience caring for fresh heart surgery patients and managing complex cardiovascular diagnoses.

Schedule/Hours:

• Contract position; specific schedule to be discussed
• 75-mile radius rule applies

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Active and unencumbered RN license
• Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in a CTICU or CVICU setting
• Proven expertise in caring for fresh post-cardiothoracic surgical patients
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (all current and required)
• Proficient in EPIC electronic health record documentation

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver evidence-based, high-quality nursing care for CTICU patients, including those with recent open-heart surgery, cardiogenic shock, and abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs
• Continuously monitor and assess cardiac status and overall patient wellbeing
• Respond decisively to changes in patient condition, ensuring timely intervention and communication with the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer and titrate critical care medications according to protocols
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff to ensure cohesive patient care
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery processes
