(RN) Registered Nurse - CVICU | Rome, New York

Experience an opportunity to provide specialized care in a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit as a skilled Registered Nurse. This contract position is ideal for an RN with a passion for cardiovascular critical care and a dedication to delivering exceptional patient outcomes in high-acuity environments.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in a CVICU setting
• Demonstrated experience with fresh heart post-surgical patients
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Must qualify under the 75-mile radius rule
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver expert nursing care to adult patients recovering from complex cardiovascular surgeries, including management of patients with conditions such as cardiogenic shock and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
• Monitor, assess, and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions to ensure safety and optimal outcomes
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a 6-bed Cardiothoracic ICU to provide continuous, personalized attention to high-risk patients
• Implement physician orders, administer medications, and coordinate care interventions with precision and timeliness
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and participate in patient and family education
• Adhere to hospital protocols and uphold highest standards for infection control and patient safety
