CVICU RN - Rome, NY

This contract position focuses on providing expert care in a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) setting, working with fresh post-surgical heart patients and individuals experiencing complex cardiac and vascular conditions.

Key qualifications and required experience:

• Active RN license with a clear, unrestricted status
• Minimum 2+ years of recent experience in a CVICU/CTICU environment
• Demonstrated proficiency working with fresh post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Strong background in managing cases such as cardiogenic shock and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
• Compliance with a 75-mile radius rule
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, coupled with clinical judgment

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Monitor, assess, and care for critically ill adult patients, particularly those recovering from cardiothoracic surgery
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to formulate and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and interpret advanced cardiac monitoring
• Respond swiftly to emergent changes in patient condition
• Educate patients and families, providing clear updates on care progress and recovery expectations
• Maintain accurate patient documentation within EPIC
