This contract position focuses on providing expert care in a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) setting, working with fresh post-surgical heart patients and individuals experiencing complex cardiac and vascular conditions.
Key qualifications and required experience:
- Active RN license with a clear, unrestricted status
- Minimum 2+ years of recent experience in a CVICU/CTICU environment
- Demonstrated proficiency working with fresh post-operative cardiac surgery patients
- Strong background in managing cases such as cardiogenic shock and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
- Compliance with a 75-mile radius rule
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, coupled with clinical judgment
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Monitor, assess, and care for critically ill adult patients, particularly those recovering from cardiothoracic surgery
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to formulate and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and interpret advanced cardiac monitoring
- Respond swiftly to emergent changes in patient condition
- Educate patients and families, providing clear updates on care progress and recovery expectations
- Maintain accurate patient documentation within EPIC
