(RN) Registered Nurse - CVICU | Utica, New York

An exceptional opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care in a high-acuity Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. This contract position specializes in the care of post-surgical cardiac patients and critically ill individuals with complex medical needs. The role requires an enthusiastic clinician with experience in CVICU settings, particularly in managing fresh open-heart and thoracic cases.

Required Schedule/Hours:

• Shifts may vary; flexibility in scheduling is necessary due to the dynamic unit needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active RN license with 2+ years of recent CVICU/Cardiothoracic ICU experience
• Experience caring for fresh open-heart patients (fresh hearts) is essential
• Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record system is mandatory
• Must adhere to the 75-mile radius rule

Patient Population and Unit Details:

• Unit: CTICU with 6 beds
• Common diagnoses include post-cardiovascular surgery, cardiogenic shock, abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), and related complex cardiac conditions

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized nursing care for patients recovering from complicated cardiac procedures and critical illness
• Rapidly assess, monitor, and respond to evolving patient conditions in accordance with critical care protocols
• Collaborate efficiently with a multidisciplinary team for optimal patient outcomes
• Administer and manage advanced life support measures as needed
• Accurately document care and communicate patient status using EPIC
• Uphold high standards of infection control, patient advocacy, and professional integrity
