CVOR Registered Nurse - Operating room - Cottondale, Alabama

Step into a crucial nursing role specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) care, delivering high standards of professional nursing and fostering positive therapeutic relationships with patients and families. This contract position offers a dynamic environment—requiring circulation in the CVOR and flexibility to float to other units and hospitals as needed. Expect to supervise and mentor LPNs, PCAs, Ortho Techs, and other non-licensed personnel, ensuring cohesive and compassionate team-based care.

Schedule Details:

• 5x8 hour shifts (total 40 hours weekly)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Coverage for holidays as needed

Qualifications & Experience:

• Associate degree in nursing required
• Active Registered Nurse license for Alabama or valid Compact license (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Certification in AHA BLS and AHA ACLS or Red Cross equivalents
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, or will consider 18 months with a year of recent, specialized experience in CVOR
• Must be willing and able to float to different hospital units
• Demonstrated ability to circulate in CVOR procedures

Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and direct safe, quality care for surgical patients
• Maintain and champion standards of professional nursing practice in a high-acuity surgical setting
• Supervise and guide LPNs, PCAs, and other ancillary staff
• Establish positive rapport with patients, families, and surgical team members
• Delegate and monitor team members to deliver coordinated patient care
• Document care provided and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes
