Responsibilities:
- Conduct timely patient assessments upon admission and regularly throughout shifts, considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Develop, review, and update individualized plans of care using data from assessments and multidisciplinary input.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitoring effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Perform nursing procedures adhering to hospital policies, sterile techniques, and patient privacy standards.
- Document patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, education, and progress with precision and clarity.
- Utilize SBAR communication for efficient handoffs and promptly report clinical changes to the healthcare team.
- Ensure patient safety by following National Patient Safety Goals, infection control protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Participate in education efforts using resources like Krames, and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning.
- Maintain certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC; TNCC/ATCN/CEN highly preferred.
Desired Experience:
- Demonstrated competence in advanced patient assessment in the emergency department setting.
- Ability to care for patients from neonatal to geriatric age groups, including those with minor to life-threatening conditions.
- Experience in managing high-risk medications and rapid patient flow within an ED.
- Familiarity with emergency protocols such as Rapid Response Team activation, disaster plans, and Core Measures compliance.
- Completion of ED-specific skills checklist prior to first shift is required.
