Registered Nurse ER | Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Provide critical emergency care as a Registered Nurse in a busy Emergency Department setting, supporting a diverse patient population with high-acuity needs. This contract role offers an opportunity to utilize advanced nursing skills in trauma, critical care, and psychiatric patient management. The unit cares for approximately 120 patients daily, with a focus on stroke, STEMI, trauma, and psychiatric cases.

Location: Shepherdsville, KY
Experience Level: Minimum 1 year nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, 39-bed unit.
• Manage high-acuity cases including trach care, ventilator support, ICU drip care, chest tubes, arterial lines, central lines, PICC/midline/ports, Foley catheters, orthopedic device care, BiPAP/Hi-flow oxygen therapy, and continuous bladder irrigation.
• Collaborate with ER techs, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and leadership for comprehensive patient care.
• Utilize Cerner EMR and operate equipment such as the Plum 360 IV pump, Omnicello medication dispensing system, and Phillips monitors.
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 to ensure quality care.
• Participate in unit orientation and work on scheduled weekend rotations (every 3rd weekend).
• Follow hospital protocols including holiday scheduling based on unit needs, with shift approvals required from nurse management.

Required Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
