Experienced Emergency Department RNs are invited to apply for a contract opportunity in a high-acuity, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds and a reputation for excellence in cardiac and stroke care. Work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team in a 61-bed ER where patient needs are diverse and the pace is fast.

Schedule:

  • Day shift, 3 x 12-hour shifts per week

Key Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience; Level I Trauma ER experience required (Level II candidates considered pending manager approval)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS; National Emergency Nursing Certification preferred
  • EKG competency required (must pass exam upon hire)
  • EPIC EMR proficiency (minimum 6 months recent use)
  • Ability to administer drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
  • Willingness to float within the ER or, if needed, to a nearby location

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert care to patients presenting with chest pain, strokes, diabetes emergencies, trauma, mental health crises, and a broad spectrum of acute conditions
  • Maintain a patient ratio typically of 1:4, in alignment with assigned zone
  • Collaborate with CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and an onsite support staff including hospitalists and intensivists, all available 24/7
  • Capably utilize medical equipment and technology including Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, and EPIC documentation
  • Engage in a culture of continuous learning with initial and ongoing clinical orientation, and work in an environment recognized for teamwork and mutual support
