Step into a vital RN First Assist role in a surgical environment, supporting positive patient outcomes through expert perioperative care. This contract position spans 18 weeks and is designed for nursing professionals adept in the first assist role, ready to collaborate effectively with surgical teams to optimize patient safety and recovery.
Schedule:
- Four 10-hour day shifts weekly (6:30 am–5:00 pm)
- Weekday on-call: end of shift through at least 11:00 pm one day per week
- On-call weekend rotation: At least one continuous weekend (Friday–Monday 6:30 am) per six-week period
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted CA RN License
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum of two years RN First Assist experience
- Demonstrated expertise in perioperative nursing skills and strong clinical judgment
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented perioperative environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first assist duties during surgical procedures, working under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon
- Ensure the safe positioning, prepping, and draping of patients in compliance with best practices and safety regulations
- Maintain a sterile field by anticipating surgeon needs and managing surgical instruments efficiently
- Monitor patient status, identifying and responding to complications immediately
- Accurately document all aspects of perioperative care for each assigned case
- Participate actively in post-operative patient hand-offs and care transition to ensure seamless recovery
