First Assist First Assist Registered Nurse (RN) - Shafter, California

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) for an 18-week contract opportunity. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting surgical teams and providing high-quality patient care during operative procedures.

Schedule:

• 4x10 hour day shifts (6:30 am – 5:00 pm)
• On-call weekday coverage until 11:00 pm at least one day per week
• One continuous weekend of call duty (Friday–Monday 6:30 am) required per 6-week period

Qualifications:

• Active California RN license required
• Certified in BLS and ACLS
• Minimum of 2 years of RN First Assist experience

Desired Skills:

• Proficient with perioperative and intraoperative care standards
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia staff, and the broader surgical team
• Detail-oriented with proven surgical assisting abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled first assist services to support surgeons during every phase of surgical procedures
• Prepare, assess, and document patient status before, during, and after surgery
• Participate in the setup and breakdown of the operating room to maintain a safe and sterile environment
• Respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies and rapidly changing clinical situations
• Take initiative during cases, anticipating surgical team needs and offering proactive solutions
