Provide critical care nursing expertise across multiple ICU settings within a flexible floating role based in a defined Colorado zone. This opportunity challenges experienced ICU Registered Nurses to deliver high-quality care to diverse patient populations, including medical, surgical, trauma, and cardiac ICU units. Precision, adaptability, and strong clinical acumen are essential to thrive in this dynamic environment.

Location & Floating Zone
This assignment is centered around Colorado Springs, CO, covering a 60-mile radius that includes several prominent hospitals such as Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Mary Corwin, and facilities in Pueblo and Canon City. Nurses must be comfortable floating throughout this zone, with housing arrangements that allow easy access across all locations. Orientation requires in-state presence for one week to ensure seamless integration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in multiple ICU units including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU.
  • Manage critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin, with confidence in titration.
  • Interpret cardiac telemetry independently due to absence of dedicated monitor techs.
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapists and assist in ventilator management and respiratory interventions.
  • Adhere to nurse-to-patient ratios typically ranging from 1:1 to 1:2, with occasional flex to 1:3 for lower acuity.
  • Participate in a flexible schedule of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. shifts, including 6–9 weekend shifts within six-week schedules and potential holiday rotation.
  • Support unit operations by floating to PCU/Step-down and med-surg telemetry as needed.

Qualifications / Desired Experience

  • Current RN licensure with minimum 2 years ICU experience; 3+ years and Epic experience preferred for first-time travelers.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.
  • Prior travel nurse experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Competence in critical drip titration and cardiac telemetry interpretation.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple ICU specialties and floating assignments within the zone.
