A contract opportunity is available for a registered nurse with critical care experience to support a stepdown unit in Pawtucket, RI. This 13-week assignment offers a dynamic environment managing patients who require a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, including fresh tracheostomies, use of levophed, stable intubations, mild sedation, and care for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). The unit functions as a PCU/Stepdown area with a preference for candidates possessing an ICU skillset.
Location: Pawtucket, Rhode Island, is a vibrant city known for its rich industrial history and thriving arts community. Situated in close proximity to Providence and Boston, it offers a mix of urban culture and New England charm, making it an engaging place to live and work.
Qualifications and Required Certifications:
- Current Rhode Island RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience in a stepdown or ICU setting, with critical care skills preferred
- Ability to manage complex patients including those with fresh tracheostomies, vasopressor support, and stable intubations
Schedule and Work Environment:
- Night shifts, working 36 to 48 hours per week
- Float assignments possible up to three times per shift, per union regulations
- Assigned to a home unit with frequent assessments every four hours
- Union hospital setting with travelers receiving float priority
