An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with ICU expertise to support a stepdown/PCU critical care unit in Warwick, RI. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment handling patients with fresh tracheostomies, levophed administration, stable intubations, mild sedation, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) management.

Qualifications:

  • Current Rhode Island RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 3:1 nursing ratio experience in stepdown or critical care settings
  • ICU skillset preferred, especially familiarity with critical care patients transitioning from intensive care
  • Comfortable working in a unionized hospital environment with floating responsibilities
  • Experience handling patients requiring close monitoring and nursing assessments every 4 hours

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert nursing care to patients on a PCU/stepdown unit
  • Manage complex patient needs including fresh tracheostomies and vasoactive medications
  • Perform frequent patient assessments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adhere to safety protocols and union guidelines for patient care and floating
  • Work primarily night shifts, supporting a home unit with possible floating assignments up to three times per shift

Schedule:

  • 36 to 48 hours per week, night shift
