Support critically ill patients on a specialized Stepdown/PCU unit that cares for complex cases including fresh tracheostomies, patients on levophed, stable intubations, mild sedation, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This nursing role requires a focused skillset in critical care, particularly ICU experience, to provide exceptional bedside care within a unionized hospital setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience managing a 3:1 patient ratio in a stepdown or critical care environment
- Strong ICU skillset preferred, comfortable with stable intubations and use of vasopressors
- Ability to work night shifts with flexibility for patient care needs and potential floating
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with complex stepdown needs
- Monitor and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams ensuring seamless continuity of care
- Flexibly support other units as required, up to three times per shift based on staffing demands
- Adhere to union protocols and support hospital policies
Schedule:
- 36/48-hour night shifts
- Staffing reassessed every 4 hours for floating needs
