Experience rewarding work in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment focusing on adult and geriatric patients needing renal care. This contract opportunity offers 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week, 07:00–19:00). The Med/Surg unit manages a diverse caseload, providing care for conditions such as HD cath, manual and cycler PD, sepsis, tele monitoring, ETOH (CIWA), UTI, CKD, and hypertensive emergencies.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Day shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts, 07:00 – 19:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Maximum of 7 days of requested time off permitted
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Must be available to work major holidays based on the assignment period

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical-surgical nursing; first-time travelers are welcome
  • Experience with adult and geriatric populations
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proficient with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems
  • Comfortable with ratios of 1:6 and typical census of 18 patients

Core Duties:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care within a renal-focused Med/Surg setting
  • Oversee management of hemodialysis catheters, manual/PD cycler protocols, and monitor for sepsis and hypertensive emergencies
  • Provide care for patients with ETOH withdrawal, CKD, UTI, and those on tele monitoring
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in safe patient handoffs using SBAR
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and participate in required orientation

Additional Details:

  • Compliance with all onboarding requirements is essential; non-compliance may result in assignment start-date delays
  • Navy, white, or combination scrubs required
