Take the opportunity to provide exceptional patient care within a dynamic orthopedic unit on a night shift schedule. This 13-week contract offers either 36 or 48 guaranteed hours per week, with flexibility to work every other weekend as facility needs require. Orientation will be held during the day shift for all new travelers.

Key qualifications:

  • Active RN license meeting Missouri state criteria, or currently licensed in Missouri
  • BLS certification (AHA required); ACLS preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ inpatient orthopedic nursing experience
  • Willingness to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
  • Familiarity withEpic EMR
  • Ability to wear black scrubs per department standards
  • Must have received a flu vaccine or hold a Mercy-approved exemption (November 1–April 1 timeframe)

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing holistic patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—primarily for orthopedic, post-trauma, surgical, and complex medical patients
  • Collaborating with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
  • Maintaining professional accountability and evaluating the effectiveness of care provided by fellow caregivers
  • Upholding patient rights and strict confidentiality protocols
  • Supporting the mission, core values, and service standards in daily practice
  • Engaging in teamwork, demonstrating dependability, and adapting to the ever-evolving care environment

This position calls for the ability to stand and walk most of each shift and to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and patient transfers, with assistance as needed.
