Deliver exceptional patient care in a dynamic, high-acuity MedSurg/Tele environment within a major teaching hospital. This key role supports a 30-bed unit known for its robust teamwork, state-of-the-art technology, and commitment to evidence-based practice. Nurses manage patients with diverse, complex diagnoses, including post/pre-cardiac cases, step-down ICU, CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis, and related conditions.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle
- No on-call
- Holiday coverage: One shift for each major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Rotating every 6 weeks
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum two years’ experience as a MedSurg/Tele RN
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG) required
- ACLS and Med-Surg national certification preferred
- Willingness to float to other MedSurg Telemetry units as needed
- Experience with trach care, chest tube management, IV/CVL insertion and care, wound and post-op care, telemetry, insulin/heparin drips, and strong clinical assessment skills
- Ability to educate patients – especially regarding renal and fluid management – and coordinate interdisciplinary care plans
- EMR experience with EPIC preferred
Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, timely care for high-acuity cardiac and medical patients
- Initiate and monitor IV/central lines, titrate certain drips, and manage wound and post-op needs
- Interpret telemetry, respond to changes in cardiac status, and participate in rapid response teams
- Collaborate with CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, physicians, and other interdisciplinary staff
- Assist with discharge planning and thorough patient education
