Deliver exceptional patient care in a dynamic, high-acuity MedSurg/Tele environment within a major teaching hospital. This key role supports a 30-bed unit known for its robust teamwork, state-of-the-art technology, and commitment to evidence-based practice. Nurses manage patients with diverse, complex diagnoses, including post/pre-cardiac cases, step-down ICU, CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis, and related conditions.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
  • Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle
  • No on-call
  • Holiday coverage: One shift for each major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Rotating every 6 weeks

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a MedSurg/Tele RN
  • BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG) required
  • ACLS and Med-Surg national certification preferred
  • Willingness to float to other MedSurg Telemetry units as needed
  • Experience with trach care, chest tube management, IV/CVL insertion and care, wound and post-op care, telemetry, insulin/heparin drips, and strong clinical assessment skills
  • Ability to educate patients – especially regarding renal and fluid management – and coordinate interdisciplinary care plans
  • EMR experience with EPIC preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, timely care for high-acuity cardiac and medical patients
  • Initiate and monitor IV/central lines, titrate certain drips, and manage wound and post-op needs
  • Interpret telemetry, respond to changes in cardiac status, and participate in rapid response teams
  • Collaborate with CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, physicians, and other interdisciplinary staff
  • Assist with discharge planning and thorough patient education
