Take the next step in your nursing career by supporting a high-acuity Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit within a large, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. This contract assignment offers an environment with robust clinical resources, a strong interdisciplinary team, and the opportunity to care for complex cardiac and step-down ICU patients.
Schedule & Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
- Weekend rotation: 5–6 weekend shifts per 12 in each cycle
- Holiday coverage: 1 major holiday shift per season
- No on-call requirement
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active, unencumbered RN license
- Minimum two years of Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience required
- BLS and BCR (EKG Rhythm exam) certifications required
- ACLS and medical-surgical national certification preferred
- Proficiency with IV insertion and maintenance, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring
- Solid cardiac monitoring/telemetry skills and experience managing drips (insulin, heparin, rate-controlling agents)
- Strong clinical assessment skills, especially in a high-acuity/trauma setting
- Experience with discharge planning and patient education—renal and fluid management focus
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care to post/pre-cardiac, CHF, COPD, sepsis, and related patient populations
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:4–6 with CNA and interdisciplinary team support
- Perform trach and chest tube care, PIV starts, glucommander oversight
- Collaborate with charge nurse, respiratory therapists, hospitalist, and intensivist teams, as well as other support staff
- Complete documentation using EPIC, administering medications via Pyxis, and monitoring with Philips/Alaris equipment
- Ensure effective discharge planning and interdisciplinary communication
