Seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Tele RN to provide exceptional patient care within a dynamic, high-acuity setting at a large teaching hospital. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma Center with advanced resources and a supportive interdisciplinary team.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 am–7:00 pm or 7:00 pm–7:00 am
  • Every 6 weeks, expect 5-6 weekend shifts (out of 12)
  • Holiday coverage: one major holiday per season (specifics provided upon discussion)
  • No on-call requirements

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current RN license in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation (must pass EKG exam)
  • IV insertion/care, central line management, wound care, foley catheter insertion/maintenance
  • Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts
  • Experience with drips (insulin, heparin, rate-controlled heart rate but not BP meds)
  • Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and cardiac telemetry
  • Strong clinical assessment skills; confident in patient education and discharge planning
  • National Med-Surg certification a plus (not required)
  • Open to first-time travelers who meet experience criteria

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver care to a varied adult patient population, including those with cardiac, respiratory, renal, and post-op needs
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Coordinate care with CNAs, discharge nurses, and resource teams
  • Educate patients, particularly regarding renal/fluid management and post-op expectations
  • Participate in safe and efficient patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Adhere to hospital protocols and promote a culture of teamwork
