Advance your career with an engaging opportunity supporting a robust inpatient MedSurg/Telemetry unit in a large, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. As an RN, you’ll work alongside a collaborative and dedicated interdisciplinary team in a 23-bed unit renowned for its high-acuity care, including post-surgical, cardiac, and complex chronic condition patients.

Schedule & Hours

  • 12-hour shifts: 7A–7P or 7P–7A
  • Weekend rotation: 5–6 shifts out of 12 per 6-week schedule
  • Holiday commitment: One shift for each major holiday
  • No on-call required

Qualifications

  • Active RN license and BLS required
  • Must pass Basic Cardiac Rhythm/EKG competency exam
  • Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience
  • ACLS and national certification (medical-surgical or nephrology) preferred
  • First-time travelers welcome

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion/care, and central line management
  • Experience with cardiac and insulin drips (non-titratable), wound vacs, wound care, PCA pumps, and telemetry interpretation
  • Strong clinical assessment and med-surg skills for high-acuity trauma hospital setting
  • Capable in discharge planning and patient education, especially for renal and fluid management

Responsibilities

  • Manage a patient ratio of 1:4–6 RNs, caring for post-op surgical, cardiac, and complex medical patients
  • Coordinate with CNAs, resource nurses, respiratory therapy, and physicians for seamless patient care
  • Administer and monitor medications and treatments using EPIC, Alaris pumps, Pyxis, and Philips monitors
  • Provide thorough documentation and effective patient/family communication
  • Support rapid patient admission/discharge protocols and adapt to occasional floating within adult MedSurg/Telemetry units
