A skilled nursing professional is needed for a contract opportunity in Byron, GA, providing care in a Level 1 Trauma Designated, teaching hospital setting with 637 licensed beds. This role supports a 30-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit equipped with advanced technology such as EPIC EMR and Phillip monitors, focusing on patients with complex acute and chronic conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients diagnosed with heart failure, acute kidney injury, COPD, sepsis, and other medical-surgical conditions.
  • Manage tracheostomies, chest tubes, IV lines including central lines, and administer drips (insulin, heparin) with precision.
  • Conduct cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, wound care, Foley catheter management, and groin care.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and patient education, especially regarding renal and fluid management.
  • Participate in patient turnover using admission/discharge protocols and assist with post-op and cardiac procedure monitoring.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required; Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency exam to be passed prior to compliance.
  • ACLS and Medical-Surgical nursing certification are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills in a trauma and med-surg environment.
  • Proficient in IV insertion, central line care, and telemetry monitoring.

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A) with weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts every 12 weeks on a 6-week cycle.
  • No on-call obligations; holiday work includes one major holiday shift per season.
  • RN scrub color is navy; free parking available around campus.
  • Orientation includes 1-day general orientation plus 2 days of departmental training.
  • Collaborative, fast-paced team culture among nurses, CNAs, and support staff.
