A nursing position is available at a well-established Level 1 Trauma Designated teaching hospital featuring a 637 licensed-bed facility with specialized centers including Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. The unit consists of 20 beds and maintains a full census, dedicated to providing comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, post-operative urology or renal surgeries, and other common med-surg diagnoses such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, congestive heart failure, and electrolyte imbalances.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care to med-surgical and telemetry patients, including those requiring peritoneal dialysis (manual and cycler); training provided if needed.
- Manage clinical tasks such as tracheostomy care, chest tube management, IV starts, wound care, post-op monitoring, and cardiac telemetry interpretation.
- Administer and titrate infusions including insulin and heparin drips targeting heart rate.
- Perform central line management, assist in discharge planning, and provide patient education focused on renal and fluid management.
- Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Nurse with 2+ years of medical-surgical or telemetry experience.
- Current BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certifications required; ACLS and Medical-Surgical or Nephrology Nursing certifications preferred.
- Proficiency in EPIC EMR system and clinical assessment skills in a high-acuity environment.
- Ability to handle multiple patient ratios: RN (1:4-6), LPN (1:4-6), CNA support provided.

Schedule and Work Environment:
- 12-hour shifts: 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM
- Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts every 6 weeks, no on-call responsibilities.
- Holiday coverage requires working one major holiday per year.
