This position offers an opportunity to provide specialized nursing care in a dynamic med-surg/telemetry environment within a large, Level I Trauma teaching hospital. The role focuses on adult and geriatric patients with complex diagnoses such as COPD, CHF exacerbations, stroke, pulmonary embolism, and more, across several medical-surgical and telemetry satellite units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care including advanced med-surg and telemetry skills.
  • Manage cardiac rhythms, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, drains, and multiple IV therapies including medication drips and blood products.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including resource nurses, CNAs, secretaries, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists.
  • Monitor telemetry and perform accurate interpretations each shift.
  • Provide patient assessments, administer treatments, and document care using Epic EMR.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of med-surg/telemetry RN experience.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  • Proficiency with cardiac rhythm interpretation and specialized nursing procedures such as PIV starts, chest tube and NGT management.
  • Comfortable with medication drip management including cardiac drips and heparin.
  • Adaptability to float across multiple units and facilities within the region as needed.

Schedule and Work Environment:

  • 12-hour shifts, either 7 a.m.–7 p.m. or 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend.
  • Holiday coverage approximately 75% of the time.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Paid travel time between facilities if floating during a shift.
  • Orientation includes hospital and unit-specific training.
