Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Cortland, NY

Key Qualifications:

• Active and unencumbered RN license
• Experience in Medical-Surgical, Long Term Care, or Psychiatric nursing strongly preferred
• Ability to adapt nursing strategies for diverse patient populations
• Knowledge of current best practices and regulatory guidelines relevant to each specialty
• Strong critical thinking, documentation, and communication abilities
• Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to patient advocacy
• BLS certification; additional certifications in psychiatric or geriatric care are a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients in medical-surgical, long-term care, or psychiatric units
• Administer medications, document care, and monitor for side effects or changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other nurses to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and ongoing care needs
• Provide emotional support and de-escalation in psychiatric care situations as required
• Uphold all safety, infection control, and ethical nursing standards
