Provide specialized nursing care in a Med/Surg setting with a focus on renal patients at a well-equipped hospital located in Decatur, GA. This contract opportunity is tailored for RNs with a minimum of two years’ experience, though first-time travelers demonstrating strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics, requiring expertise in hemodialysis catheter management, manual peritoneal dialysis (PD) and PD cycler operation, along with managing conditions such as sepsis, alcohol withdrawal (CIWA), UTIs, chronic kidney disease, and hypertensive emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to a census averaging 18 patients, maintaining a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio across 20 rooms.
  • Utilize hospital systems including Epic, Pyxis, and apply SBAR communication techniques.
  • Manage renal-focused treatments including HD catheter care and manual PD processes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Adhere to all compliance and orientation requirements to guarantee a smooth start and continued performance.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with at least 2 years of relevant clinical experience in Med/Surg units, preferably with renal focus.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Competency in telemetry monitoring and managing acute and chronic renal conditions.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to work a floating schedule as required, with flexibility around major holidays.

Schedule:

  • Day shift: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:00).
  • Every other weekend rotation.
  • No call requirements.
