Step into a dynamic nursing environment specializing in orthopedic care on a 13-week contract with a dedicated medical surgical team for night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). This inpatient role offers a choice of 36 or 48 guaranteed hours each week. Candidates must be flexible, dependable, and able to work every other weekend as required by the unit.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for Missouri licensure
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum of 2 years recent, inpatient orthopedic nursing experience
- Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records or similar EMR systems
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) required during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 1)
- Ability to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, focusing on orthopedic and general medical cases
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to improve outcomes and comfort
- Maintain accountability for care provision, ensuring the effectiveness of delivery by the healthcare team
- Uphold patient rights and confidentiality, performing duties in line with facility values and professional standards
- Adapt to demanding physical requirements, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting with assistance
Work Details:
- 30-bed orthopedic unit, typical patient ratio 1:6
- Black scrubs required
- Orientation week scheduled during day shift; full availability required for this period
- Blocked scheduling may be available upon request
- Rotating schedule includes every other weekend
