Step into a dynamic nursing environment specializing in orthopedic care on a 13-week contract with a dedicated medical surgical team for night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). This inpatient role offers a choice of 36 or 48 guaranteed hours each week. Candidates must be flexible, dependable, and able to work every other weekend as required by the unit.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for Missouri licensure
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years recent, inpatient orthopedic nursing experience
  • Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records or similar EMR systems
  • Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) required during flu season (Nov 1–Apr 1)
  • Ability to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, focusing on orthopedic and general medical cases
  • Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to improve outcomes and comfort
  • Maintain accountability for care provision, ensuring the effectiveness of delivery by the healthcare team
  • Uphold patient rights and confidentiality, performing duties in line with facility values and professional standards
  • Adapt to demanding physical requirements, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting with assistance

Work Details:

  • 30-bed orthopedic unit, typical patient ratio 1:6
  • Black scrubs required
  • Orientation week scheduled during day shift; full availability required for this period
  • Blocked scheduling may be available upon request
  • Rotating schedule includes every other weekend
