Experience an impactful opportunity caring for surgical patients on a Med Surg unit in a well-supported clinical environment. This contract nursing role centers on providing dedicated care as part of an experienced team, delivering high-quality assessment, medication administration, and patient advocacy. Be a vital resource for post-surgical recovery and patient education during evening shifts on a busy surgical floor.

Schedule & Hours:

  • Night shifts
  • 36 hours/week, 3x12-hour shifts
  • Contract length: 13–16 weeks
  • Every other weekend required
  • Commitment to 3 designated holidays (combination of major/minor): 11/27, 11/28, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, and 1/1

Qualifications:

  • Active and current AL or multistate compact RN license—no pending applications
  • At least 2 years of recent nursing experience in Medical Surgical or Surgical unit settings
  • Prior travel nursing experience is required
  • Proficiency using Cerner EMR systems
  • Ability to adapt to scheduling needs; blocked schedules cannot be accommodated
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to patients on a surgical Medical-Surgical unit
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, manage medications, and provide post-operative care and patient education
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, ancillary staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Accurately document using Cerner EHR and adhere to established hospital protocols
  • Respond flexibly to patient and unit needs, particularly during holiday shifts
