A skilled Registered Nurse with Med-Surg and Telemetry expertise is needed for a contract role in Gastonia, NC. This opportunity offers the chance to provide comprehensive care across multiple acute care units, including medical-surgical and telemetry units, supporting adult and geriatric patients with a broad range of diagnoses such as COPD exacerbations, CHF exacerbations, strokes, and post-trauma care.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex patient care including cardiac rhythm interpretation, tracheostomy care, chest tube and drain management, and PCA pump administration.
  • Administer and monitor medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.
  • Participate in telemetry monitoring and complete shift-based cardiac rhythm interpretations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including CNAs, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists to ensure quality patient outcomes.
  • Float within the designated regional network as needed, maintaining flexibility to work across various units and facilities.
  • Utilize EMR (Epic) and advanced medical equipment (Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing) to document and deliver care.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with at least 2 years of experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Proficiency in complex skills including IV starts, NGT placement, trach care, chest tube management, and medication gtt management.
  • Ability to work weekend rotations every other week and meet holiday scheduling expectations.
  • Comfortable with floating across different units and facilities within the region.

  • Shift options: 7 am – 7 pm and 7 pm – 7 am.
  • Weekend rotation every other week.
