Experienced Med-Surg/Tele RNs are sought for a dynamic nursing opportunity in a large teaching hospital with 874 licensed beds, Level I Trauma status, and accolades as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center. This contract role supports the ADTU and multiple satellite units, with an essential focus on decompressing the ED and specialty departments. Nurses will manage adult and geriatric patients, frequently presenting with COPD, CHF exacerbations, pneumonia, stroke, fall injuries, GI bleeds, DVT, and more.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a
  • Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
  • No call required
  • 6-week schedule cycles
  • Expectation to work 75% of holidays
  • Approved RTO (excluding holidays): Up to 6 days, with flexibility to extend contract if needed

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license and BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ recent Med-Surg/Tele RN experience required (resource team)
  • General Med/Tele skillset, including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and drain/tube maintenance
  • Proficiency with cardiac drips, blood product administration, IV fluids, and other medication titrations
  • Experience with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors preferred
  • Willingness to float within regional facilities as needed, within scope of practice

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for a variety of complex medical and telemetry patients
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, RT, intensivists, and hospitalists—all available 24/7
  • Accurately interpret and document patient telemetry
  • Manage high patient ratios during periods of surge staffing
