Bring your strong medical-surgical and telemetry nursing skills to a dynamic, collaborative environment. This contract opportunity places you in a 637-bed teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center designations. Experience a diverse patient population, including pre- and post-cardiac cases and step-down ICU care, within a supportive interdisciplinary care team.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A–7P or 7P–7A
- 5-6 weekend shifts in a 6-week cycle
- No on-call; required to work one shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
- BLS required; Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG rhythm) assessment as part of onboarding
- ACLS and Medical-Surgical Certification preferred
- First-time travelers welcomed
Required Experience and Skills:
- Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, central line management
- IV insertion, wound care, and post-op monitoring
- Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation (Epic, Alaris, Pyxis, Philips)
- Drip management (excluding titrating BP drips)
- Strong clinical assessment and med-surg judgment
- Care coordination, patient education, and discharge planning (focus on renal/fluid management)
Responsibilities:
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:4–6
- Administer and monitor complex drips, insulin, heparin
- Oversee care for CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis and related diagnoses
- Collaborate with CNAs, unit secretaries, discharge/resource nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, and RT
- Floating between med-surg telemetry units as required
- Accurate documentation and EMR use (EPIC)
