Apply NowAn exceptional opportunity awaits registered nurses with strong med-surg and telemetry experience to work in a high-acuity teaching hospital setting. Serving an 874-bed, Level I Trauma facility designated as a Magnet Hospital and specialty center for chest pain and stroke care, this role offers exposure to a diverse, complex patient population. The unit comprises 36 beds and requires expertise in caring for post-surgical, renal, and trauma patients.
Schedule/Hours:
- Contract assignment
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call requirements for travelers
- Expectation to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of requested time off (excluding holidays); additional time may be added to meet contracted hours
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg-Telemetry RN experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with general Med/Tele skills, including:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts
- Chest tube and drain management (Hemovac, JP, PEG tubes, Dobhoff, foley, flexiseals)
- PCA pumps, medication gtt management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF)
- Surgical trauma and transplant patient care experience strongly preferred
- Experience with EPIC EMR and Omnicell systems
- Able to work with varied patient ratios and adaptable to surge staffing
Role Responsibilities:
- Independently manage comprehensive care for complex Med/Surg and telemetry patients
- Float within regional facilities as required; willingness to transition settings mid-shift is necessary (travel time paid)
- Interpret cardiac rhythms directly—no monitoring tech support
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists on site 24/7
- Attend required facility and two-day departmental orientation
