Step into a dynamic setting as a MedSurg/Tele RN in a nationally recognized teaching and Level 1 Trauma hospital. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work with a dedicated team on a 30-bed unit caring for patients with complex cardiac diagnoses, including CHF, COPD, and various forms of acute coronary syndromes.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- Holiday commitment: One shift for each major holiday (Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year)
- No call required
Qualifications:
- Active RN license, BLS, and BCR certifications required; ACLS and Med-Surg national certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Tele RN experience
- Open to first-time travelers
- Strong clinical assessment, cardiac monitoring, and med-surg skills, confident with Level 1 Trauma hospital demands
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, IV starts, central line care, wound and post-op monitoring
- Familiarity with glucommander, insulin and heparin drips, as well as titrating HR drips (not BP drips)
- Experience with discharge planning and patient education, particularly for renal or fluid management needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage care for post/pre-cardiac and step-down ICU patients
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and engage in effective care coordination
- Perform discharge planning and thorough patient education
- Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, Pyxis, and Philips monitors
- Flexible floating to other Med-Surg telemetry units as needed
Department & Facility Support:
- 24/7 access to RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Unit secretaries, CNAs, discharge/resource nurses, and a central telemetry monitoring unit
- One-day facility orientation and two days of departmental training
