Step into a dynamic environment at a leading teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma and advanced cardiac and stroke care. This contract nursing position focuses on delivering expert care within a robust 30-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit serving a full census of cardiac and step-down ICU patients. Be a crucial part of a renowned facility recognized for its collaborative interdisciplinary culture and commitment to clinical excellence.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A–7P or 7P–7A
- Weekend rotation: 5–6 shifts per 6-week cycle
- Holiday coverage: at least one shift per major holiday
- No on-call requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Current RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Tele RN experience
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
- BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) certification (EKG rhythm competency required during onboarding)
- ACLS preferred
- Strong assessment, med-surg, and telemetry skills
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV and central line management, insulin and heparin drips, wound care, and telemetry interpretation
Responsibilities:
- Care for post/pre-cardiac, CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis, and similar patients
- Safely manage patient ratios of 1:4–6
- Start and manage IV lines, coordinate with the interdisciplinary care team, and manage central lines
- Discharge planning, patient education (especially renal/fluid management)
- Utilize advanced EMR (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Support and lead within a busy, team-focused culture
- Floating to other med-surg/telemetry units as needed
Facility Support:
- 24/7 CNA, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Unit secretary (coverage varies by shift)
- Discharge and resource nurse teams
- Dedicated lab collection and blood bank transport assistance
