This contract nursing opportunity is ideal for experienced RNs eager to provide expert care within a dynamic, fast-paced medical-surgical/telemetry setting at a large, advanced facility. You’ll play a vital role supporting patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including post-operative cases and cardiac procedures, in a well-equipped 30-bed unit boasting collaborative support and strong interdisciplinary teamwork.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts (7A–7P or 7P–7A)
  • Weekend rotation: 5–6 weekend shifts within each 6-week schedule cycle
  • Holiday coverage: One major holiday shift per season (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, or New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • No on-call required

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with at least 2 years of recent med-surg/telemetry experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Ability to pass EKG competency exam (BCR)
  • ACLS and medical-surgical nursing certification preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment skills; experience with Level 1 Trauma hospitals a plus

Skills & Experience Desired:

  • Proficient in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
  • IV insertion, central line and wound care, post-op monitoring, Foley and groin management
  • Experience with insulin and heparin drips, PIV starts, glucommander, trach care, and chest tube management
  • Comfort with EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and Philips monitors
  • Effective discharge planning and patient education, especially relating to renal/fluid management

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for diverse med-surg/telemetry cases
  • Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team and contribute to discharge planning
  • Float to other med-surg/telemetry units if needed
