A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RN to provide exceptional care in a well-equipped 874-bed Level I Trauma teaching hospital, recognized for its Chest Pain and Stroke Centers. This contract position is based in Matthews, NC, and involves caring for adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical conditions including COPD exacerbations, CHF, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and more.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care across multiple med-surg and med-tele units including ADTU and satellite units, focusing on decompressing the emergency department and specialty areas.
- Manage complex patient care involving cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke management, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, NG tubes, drains, and PCA pump administration.
- Administer medications including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and resource nurses.
- Monitor telemetry and perform patient assessments with an emphasis on acuity-adapted staffing ratios.
- Utilize EMR (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors.
- Float to regional facilities as needed within scope of practice.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license with at least 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- Strong skills in cardiac and stroke patient care, including IV starts, chest tube and drain management, and telemetry interpretation.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to float within the designated regional facilities for patient care support.
Schedule and Contract Details:
- Shift options: 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am with weekend rotation every other week.
- Work 75% of holidays; no call required.
- Orientation includes a 2-day departmental new employee orientation.
