Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Matthews, NC

Bring your skills and dedication to a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry environment at a large, respected teaching hospital. As a contract Registered Nurse specializing in Med-Surg/Telemetry, you will play a crucial role across various units focused on adult and geriatric patient care, supporting quick turnover and decompression for the ED and other specialty areas.

Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a
• Rotating weekends (every other weekend)
• 6-week scheduling cycle
• Holiday coverage: Expectation to work approximately 75% of major holidays
• No call required

Qualifications:

• Active RN license and BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years’ Med-Surg/Tele RN experience highly preferred
• General Med-Surg/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke experience, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain and tube management, PCA pumps, and management of medication drips (cardiac gtts, Heparin, blood products, IVF)
• Proficiency with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Willingness to float within regional facilities as needed

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive care to adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, pneumonia, trauma, DVT, GI bleeds, and more
• Manage patient ratios adjusted to unit acuity (ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6, may increase with surge staffing)
• Collaborate with CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, and other support staff
• Participate in telemetry monitoring and complete cardiac interpretations per shift
• Support patient safety, documentation, and interdisciplinary communication
