A skilled Registered Nurse with Med-Surg and Telemetry experience is needed for a contract opportunity in Milledgeville, GA. This 12-hour shift position offers a dynamic environment within a Level 1 Trauma Designation, teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds, including a Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. You will care for a diverse inpatient population averaging a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio, consisting of medical-surgical patients with acute and chronic conditions, post-operative cases, and common co-morbidities such as diabetes, CHF, infections, and electrolyte imbalances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional nursing care and clinical assessments in med-surg/telemetry units.
- Manage tracheostomies, chest tubes, intravenous lines, central lines, and administer insulin/heparin drips.
- Perform cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for discharge planning and patient education, focusing on renal and fluid management.
- Administer wound care and post-op monitoring.
- Utilize EPIC EMR along with hospital-specific technologies such as Alaris IV pumps, cardiac telemetry monitors, glucommander, and portable vital sign equipment.
- Support rapid patient turnover by following admission and discharge protocols.
- Float within all adult med-surg/telemetry units as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license.
- Minimum two years of med-surg nursing experience required.
- BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required; ACLS and medical-surgical national certification preferred.
- Proven ability to start PIVs and perform complex nursing interventions in a Level 1 trauma setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and care coordination skills.
Schedule and Work Environment:
- 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A).
- Weekend rotation: approximately 5-6 weekend shifts per 12.
- Holiday work expected (one shift per major holiday).
