Medical-Surgical RN in New Hartford, NY

Make a difference in patient care as a Registered Nurse skilled in Medical-Surgical and Oncology nursing. This contract role allows you to work with a skilled multi-disciplinary team, caring for patients requiring specialized oncology support within a medical-surgical environment.

Schedule/Hours:

• Full-time contract schedule
• Shifts may include days, nights, or weekends as needed for patient care

Qualifications:

• Active, unencumbered RN license
• Minimum of one year recent experience in a medical-surgical unit
• Demonstrated expertise in oncology patient care; candidates without oncology experience will not be considered
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary setting
• Current BLS certification (additional oncology-specific credentials a plus)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive patient care to medical-surgical and oncology populations
• Administer chemotherapy and manage side effects in coordination with physicians
• Monitor, assess, and document changes in patient conditions, escalating care when required
• Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, and ongoing health management
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety standards
• Participate in patient care planning, rounds, and multidisciplinary meetings
• Facilitate smooth transitions of care and thorough hand-offs at shift change
