This medical-surgical/telemetry position offers hands-on experience with orthopedic, neuro, and telemetry patients, as well as advanced devices such as wound vacs, PICC lines, and non-titratable drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin. You’ll function within a supportive team, typically enjoying a 1:5-1:6 nurse-patient ratio on a 29-bed unit, with 1-2 ancillary support staff per shift depending on census.
Schedule & Unit Details:
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- Navy blue scrubs
- Use of EPIC electronic health record
What You’ll Do:
- Complete ongoing assessments, develop and implement care plans, evaluate patient outcomes
- Safely administer medications per policy
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and act as the patient's advocate
- Manage patients with multi-system organ failure/trauma
- Read and verify telemetry strips once per shift
- Mentor and educate less experienced staff
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Current RN license (or compact)
- Minimum 2 years recent med-surg/tele experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Comfort with dysrhythmia interpretation (study guide provided)
- Experience caring for patients with insulin gtts, airway support modalities, and central lines
- Strong communication, adaptability, and team collaboration skills
