Take advantage of a unique opportunity to care for patients on a distinguished Blood Cancer Oncology unit renowned for top nurse-centered quality measures. This fast-paced contract role is key to supporting individuals with complex hematology diagnoses and cancer treatments in a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Schedule:

  • Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum one year of current hospital acute care oncology experience
  • Preferred: Chemo and biotherapy certification (not required for all tasks)
  • Stepdown/acute care nursing experience highly valued
  • Compassionate attitude, adaptability, and quick learning skills essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for blood cancer and oncology patients with patient ratios of 3–4:1
  • Collaborate closely with charge nurses, RNs, and CNAs to ensure outstanding patient outcomes
  • Carry out procedures, including lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies (with or without sedation), and thoracentesis
  • Manage and administer medications, blood, and electrolyte replacements under standing orders
  • Use state-of-the-art equipment: telemonitoring, bladder scanner, Alaris pump/PCA in a Meditech EMR environment
  • Remain vigilant on safety guidelines; as non-certified nurses, you will not administer chemo/biotherapy, but education on hazardous drug handling is provided
