This opportunity is for a registered nurse with experience in medical-surgical or oncology nursing, based in Moundsville, WV. The role is a contract position on the 4th Floor Orthopedic/Surgical unit of a private 52-bed hospital, specializing in post-operative and medical-surgical care. Shift options are 12-hour nights from 7 PM to 7 AM, scheduled every other weekend with holiday rotations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care primarily in a med-surg environment with orthopedic and various post-operative cases.
- Manage clinical duties with a typical 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio and collaborate with Clinical Assistants and multiple CNAs.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR Sunrise) for documentation.
- Administer and monitor drips including Heparin and PCA medications; no cardiac or insulin infusions.
- Handle respiratory support such as Bipap and Cpap; ventilator experience is not required as mechanical ventilation is not used.
- Coordinate with in-house hospitalists, intensivists, IV and respiratory therapy teams.
- Participate in a structured weekend and holiday rotation schedule.
- Adhere to specified uniform standards with navy blue scrubs for RNs.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with certifications in BLS and preferably NIHSS; ACLS certification is a plus.
- Experience on med-surg or oncology units with familiarity in post-op orthopedic and general surgical patient care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Preferred experience with peritoneal dialysis and managing hemodialysis patients on the unit.
- Readiness to float across related units and adapt to varied patient assignments.
