A specialized nursing opportunity is available in Wichita, KS, focusing on medical-surgical care within an oncology unit. This contract role is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses looking to apply their med/surg expertise alongside oncology care in a dynamic hospital environment.

Location: Situated in Wichita, this position is based on an oncology med/surg unit with 24 beds and a dedicated nursing team. The hospital is recognized nationally for its quality of care and holds Magnet designation, highlighting its commitment to nursing excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to oncology and med/surg patients utilizing a primary nursing care model.
  • Administer chemotherapy under strict protocol following certification requirements.
  • Monitor vital signs regularly (every 8 hours; every 4 hours for remote telemetry patients).
  • Collaborate closely with a supportive charge nurse team and interdisciplinary care members.
  • Use Meditech electronic medical records for accurate patient charting.
  • Communicate efficiently using hospital-issued iPhone systems to coordinate patient care.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Active RN licensure with solid medical-surgical nursing experience.
  • Chemotherapy certification is highly preferred.
  • ACLS certification is an advantage.
  • Positive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Schedule:

  • Night shift hours from 7 PM to 7 AM.
