An opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses to provide critical care in a dynamic medical-surgical intensive care unit. This travel assignment is based in Prescott Valley, AZ, offering exposure to a variety of advanced patient care scenarios in a well-regarded hospital setting.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with Medical/Surgical ICU experience.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required.
- Strong EKG interpretation skills.
- Experience with titrating critical care drips such as pressors, sedation, paralytics, and antiarrhythmics.
- Familiarity with critical care procedures and equipment including arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, chest tubes, extraventricular drains (EVD), and advanced ventilation management.
- Preferred skills: Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and Prismaflex continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
- Ability to perform manual proning and manage complex diagnoses including COVID-19 respiratory failure, post-surgical cardiac care, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and cardiac device management.
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care to critically ill patients in 12-bed CVICU, 8-bed Medical/Surgical ICU, and up to 20-bed Progressive Care Unit.
- Collaborate with intensivists, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Manage ventilators and troubleshoot respiratory support equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and Vapotherm.
- Provide rapid response and code blue interventions when necessary.
- Maintain patient-to-nurse ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:4, depending on acuity.

Schedule & Shift Details:
- 12-hour shifts, typically 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Weekend commitment: Four shifts per pay period including nights and days.
- Schedule created four weeks in advance with some self-scheduling and trade flexibility.
- Floating required across ICU, PCU, and MST units as part of core staff rotations.
Additional Information:
- Strict radius and employment restrictions apply for candidates with prior experience in select affiliated healthcare systems.
- Orientation includes general hospital onboarding plus unit-specific preceptorship.
- Professional scrub attire required; transition to navy scrubs planned.
- Call may be required approximately once every six weeks, dependent on census.
