Registered Nurse Med Surg | Starkville, Mississippi

Deliver expert nursing care to a dynamic and diverse patient population as a Med Surg RN within a fast-paced clinical environment. This contract position offers a 13-week assignment that will utilize your advanced skills and judgment across a broad patient spectrum, including medical, orthopedic, surgical, GIP, telemetry, and stepdown cases.

Schedule/Hours:

• Rotating shifts with two distinct patterns:
  • Rotation 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Friday
  • Rotation 2 (Nights): Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care for a 5-7 patient load, including total care patients
• Accurately document patient information and care interventions in the EPIC electronic health record system
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families for optimal outcomes
• Respond promptly to rapid changes in patient status with critical thinking and advanced assessment skills
• Administer medications, treatments, and other interventions as directed by providers
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control guidelines throughout all clinical tasks
• Educate patients and families regarding plans of care, discharge instructions, and health management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of Mississippi
• Minimum of 3 years’ recent Med Surg nursing experience
• Valid BLS certification
• Demonstrated proficiency using EPIC EHR system
• Experience managing a diverse, high-acuity patient population
