As a skilled RN on the Medical Respiratory Unit, you’ll step into a 42-bed environment specializing in acute and chronic respiratory conditions. Nurses manage a 1:6 ratio with dedicated support for respiratory patients and a collaborative, interdisciplinary care approach. You’ll also gain vital experience in an 8-bed step-down unit with a focused 1:4 ratio, further diversifying your clinical expertise. Cross-training is encouraged, with opportunities to float to other units and nearby hospitals, giving you exposure to a wide variety of cases and healthcare approaches. This experience broadens your clinical perspective and enhances your leadership skills, making it invaluable for your professional growth.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Accepting 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Every other weekend required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Active Alabama or Compact RN license (No temporary licenses accepted)
  • Current AHA or Red Cross BLS certification
  • At least 18 months of experience (2 years preferred), including 1 year of recent specialty experience
  • Willingness to float to other units/hospitals

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to respiratory and diverse medical patients
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team during daily patient rounds
  • Manage patient loads efficiently, maintaining safe care ratios
  • Adapt to step-down protocols and a variety of medical needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all facility guidelines
