Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Utica, NY

Key Qualifications:

• Current, valid RN license
• At least one year of recent experience in a medical-surgical setting
• Proven hands-on experience in oncology nursing is mandatory
• Demonstrated proficiency in assessing, planning, and evaluating patient care
• Ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing situations and patient needs
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
• BLS certification required; additional oncology-related certifications a plus

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver skilled, patient-centered nursing care to individuals with oncological diagnoses on a medical-surgical unit
• Monitor for and manage treatment side effects, complications, and changes in patient status
• Administer medications and oncology treatments per physician orders and protocols
• Provide thorough patient and family education regarding care, medications, and treatment plans
• Collaborate closely with physicians, case managers, oncology specialists, and allied health professionals for optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records and contribute to care planning
• Uphold infection control standards and promote a safe, supportive environment
• Offer emotional support, advocacy, and education to patients and their families during all phases of treatment
