Step into a key clinical role at a large, high-acuity teaching hospital designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center and certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center. This position is designed for registered nurses with a strong med-surg/telemetry background to deliver quality care for a diverse adult population, including cardiac, post/pre-op, and step-down ICU patients.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts available: 7A-7P or 7P-7A
  • 6-week schedule cycle
  • Weekend rotation: 5-6 shifts per 12 shift period
  • Holiday coverage: 1 shift each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after; 12/24 or 12/25; 12/31 or 1/1)
  • No on-call requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current RN license
  • Minimum 2 years’ med-surg/telemetry RN experience
  • Accepts first-time travelers
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG Rhythm) required
  • ACLS and medical-surgical certification preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in:
    • Trach care, chest tube management
    • IV starts and central line care
    • Management of drips, insulin and heparin
    • Wound care, post-op monitoring
    • Telemetry interpretation & cardiac monitoring

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver care to high-acuity patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis
  • RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6
  • Discharge planning and renal/fluid patient education
  • Care coordination within a multidisciplinary team
  • Floating to other med-surg/tele units as needed
  • Utilize innovative hospital equipment: EPIC EMR, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors

Support & Environment:

  • Team-oriented med-surg/telemetry unit
  • Strong ancillary support: CNAs, dedicated unit secretary, resource/discharge nurses, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage 24/7
