Join an advanced Medical-Surgical and Telemetry unit focused on delivering expert care to patients with complex renal and post-operative needs. This contract opportunity is based in Warner Robins, GA, and offers a chance to apply and expand your registered nursing skills in a supportive Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, including end-stage renal disease and peritoneal dialysis.
- Manage post-operative urology and renal surgery patients, alongside common med-surg co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, CHF, and infections.
- Administer and titrate medication drips (insulin, heparin), perform PIV and central line management, wound care, and cardiac telemetry monitoring.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for patient discharge planning and education, focusing on renal and fluid management.
- Utilize EMR (EPIC), telemetry tech, and specialized peritoneal dialysis equipment to enhance patient care.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure with a minimum of 2 years Med-Surg experience; first-time travelers encouraged to apply.
- Certifications: BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) required; ACLS, Medical-Surgical, or Nephrology Nursing certifications preferred.
- Skilled in trach and chest tube care, glucommander use, telemetry interpretation, and IV insertion.
- Strong clinical assessment abilities and ability to manage complex nursing interventions confidently.
Work Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM.
- Weekend rotation includes 5-6 shifts every 6 weeks.
- Holiday coverage includes one shift on major holidays.
- No on-call responsibilities.
Facility & Location: This 20-bed unit operates within a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital offering specialized centers for stroke and chest pain. The unit maintains a teamwork-focused culture amidst a busy environment, supported by a full interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry techs.
