Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in West Point, MS

Step into a challenging and rewarding position supporting a bustling Med Surg unit for a 13-week contract assignment. Your expertise as an experienced Registered Nurse will be vital in caring for a varied patient population, including medical, orthopedic, general surgery, gastrointestinal, telemetry, and stepdown cases.

Schedule/Hours:

• Rotating schedule with two distinct shifts:
  • Rotation 1: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Thurs, Fri
  • Rotation 2: Wed, Thurs, Fri, Tues, Wed, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues (Nights)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active and unrestricted Mississippi State RN license
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an RN in a Med Surg environment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records system is essential
• Capable of confidently managing a 5-7 patient load, including several total care patients

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care on a high-acuity Med Surg unit
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, perform timely interventions, and document changes using EPIC
• Collaborate closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and ancillary staff for optimal patient outcomes
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and coordinate care for patients with varied diagnoses and acuity levels
• Communicate effectively and provide support, education, and updates to patients and family members
