A dynamic role is available for an RN with Med-Surg and Telemetry experience to support a well-established unit in Winston-Salem, NC. This travel opportunity offers exposure to a diverse patient population primarily dealing with hematology and oncology cases including leukemia and symptom management for end-of-life care. The position requires a minimum of one year of nursing experience, with a preference for oncology background, and welcomes first-time travelers meeting this criterion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care focusing on hematology and oncology patients
  • Manage port access, blood product administration, electrolyte imbalances, and pain/symptom management
  • Perform PIV starts and interpret cardiac rhythms accurately
  • Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, and other support staff to maintain high-quality patient care
  • Utilize EMR (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and telemetry monitoring technology

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active RN license with at least 1 year clinical experience, preferably in Med-Surg or Telemetry with oncology exposure
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; ONS and OCN certifications are a plus
  • Skilled in port access, blood products administration, EOL care, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Comfortable working within a highly specialized cancer center environment and adhering to unit protocols

Schedule and Work Environment:

  • 12-hour shifts: Days (6:30 am – 7:00 pm) or Nights (6:30 pm – 7:00 am)
  • Rotating weekends every other week; holiday coverage approximately 75%
  • No on-call duties; return-to-orientation up to 7 days as needed
  • Free on-site parking and a supportive unit culture with royal blue scrubs
