Seeking an experienced RN with a passion for neonatal and pediatric critical care to join a high-acuity NICU/Pediatric Intensive Care unit for a 26-week contract. This teaching hospital is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and recognized center of excellence in multiple specialties, equipped with advanced technology and robust cross-disciplinary support.
Schedule/Hours
- 26-week contract
- May offer a 48-hour/week guarantee (confirm during interview process)
- Scheduling cycle every 6 weeks, no on-call requirement for travelers
- Flexible float to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, PCU, and General Pediatrics as needed
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure, BLS & PALS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- EPIC EMR proficiency
- Strong skills in critical care: Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, vasoactive drip titration, ART/CVP lines, ventilator and trach management, HOFV, feeding tubes, chest tubes, CRRT, and more
- Ability to float to related pediatric units if needed
- First-time travelers are welcome
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert patient care to critically ill neonates and children—common cases include respiratory distress, trauma, seizures, transplants, and complex medical conditions
- Manage patient ratios based on acuity (typically 2:1, 1:1, 1:2)
- Perform bedside procedures, sedation/analgesic management, and coordinate interdisciplinary care with 24/7 onsite intensivists, RT, IV/VAT teams, phlebotomy, and resource nurses
- Support safe transitions of care and patient discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC
- Exemplify teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care
